Cathal and the rest of the Kentucky gang raised $740 at their charity table quiz on Wednesday 23rd April. This is quite impressive as the event was for a charity about 4000 miles away! Two of the tables who won a cash prize were generous enough to donate their winnings to the Tracie Lawlor Trust. We have yet to overcome our surprise at how many kind hearted people there are who are willing to give their hard earned money to this cause. Well done to those involved in organising this successful event. |

Another congratulations to all those who put their blood, sweat and tears into making the 5th April 2008 a day that none of us will forget. Congratulations! |
| Irish Cycle |
Sunday, 6th April | I know that I speak for all of us non-cyclists who were involved in this event when I say how proud I am of those who cycled from Dublin to Wexford yesterday. It is an understatement to say that the day was a great success. The motivation of the cyclists and the reception they received on arrival to Castlebridge was nothing short of moving. The total figure of sponsorship has not yet been tallied however the awareness that was raised in one day is priceless. John Morrissey and Ruairi Culleton did a fantastic job in organising the event to make sure that everyone was looked after and that all the cyclists had to do was concentrate on getting to their destination. There were many more people involved, too many to mention, who selflessly gave up their time to help in any way they could. Everyone was amazed to witness that some of those less experienced cyclists finished the journey in just over five hours. Emotions were high as friends of Tracie were met by her parents Phil and Ian who graciously offered each cyclist a medal for their effort and as a memento of the event. Most of those involved wore t-shirts that bore Tracie's name or picture to symbolise what the day was all about. It was a privilege to be part of such an amazing occasion. We will post the total amount raised along with photos of the day very soon. Congratulations again to all participants. What an achievement!!! |
